Ohio State is a 34-point favorite for Saturday’s noon kickoff against Ohio in Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes are 5-0 against Ohio and have outscored the Bobcats 135-16.
Ohio’s quarterback, Theo Scott, completed 26 passes for 224 yards in last week’s 21-20 loss to Wyoming. Surprisingly, OU receiver Taylor Price currently leads the FBS with 14 receptions. The Bobcats also have a dangerous player in Donte Harden. Harden is ranked second in the nation averaging 56 yards per kickoff return. The running game is an area in which Ohio needs to improve. The Bobcats only gained 39 rushing yards against Wyoming.
The Buckeyes’ defense held Youngstown State to an impressive negative eleven yards rushing. Only Oklahoma’s defense has allowed fewer total yards than the 74 YSU gained against Ohio State. The duo of Brandon Saine and Daniel “Boom” Herron has improved Ohio State’s kick return game to 16th in the nation. That is much better than last season’s ranking of 117.
The View
It should be a tough task for the Bobcats to move the ball on the ground against Ohio State. If Ohio attempts 35 passes in this game, Mr. Scott might have a section of the turf permanently implanted in his backside. With or without Beanie, Ohio State’s defense will overwhelm the Bobcats. You can’t spell Ohio without the 0.
Ohio State 45, Ohio 0
Random Notes
Ryan Pretorius is tied for the national lead with four made field goals.
The Bobcats’ defense did not record a sack and only had two tackles for loss. Ohio held Wyoming to 111 yards passing, but let the Cowboys rush for 160 yards.
Sophomore linebacker Noah Keller made 15 tackles last week.
Senior linebacker Chris Hall had nine tackles.
