If you're interested in what the future has in store for Ohio State football, the U.S. Army All American Bowl (1:00 NBC) is a good crystal ball to look into.
Had you watched this game in 2004 you would have seen Ted Ginn Jr. show off his speed on punt and kickoff returns. In 2006, Beanie Wells displayed his power running game by bowling over opponents.
Last year Eugene Clifford made key plays in the secondary.
This year's game features eight commitments (seven will play) to Ohio State's class of 2008. The top Ohio State players to watch are: OT Mike Adams, WR DeVier Posey, LB Etienne Sabino and OT J.B. Shugarts.
Center Michael Brewster will not play in the game because of a shoulder injury, but he has already enrolled at Ohio State.
Five players who have not committed, but have Ohio State on their short list, will also be competing. Perhaps OG Josh Jenkins, DE Quinton Coples, LB/DE Shayne Hale or OT Kyle Long will select Ohio State over the other schools they are considering.
However, of the undecided players, the most sought after player is Terrelle Pryor. Pryor is considered the nation's top quarterback prospect and has narrowed his search to Florida, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State and Ohio State. Pryor will play with four committed Buckeyes on the East's offense. If Pryor and Jenkins choose Ohio State it won't be difficult to imagine what Ohio State's future offense will look like.
The Buckeyes could possibly have two offensive linemen, a quarterback, a wide receiver and a running back on the field playing for the East at the same time.
Having eight committed recruits at this game can only help sway the undecided players toward playing for Ohio State, especially when Pryor is rumored to be rooming with Brewster.
Monday is for the national championship; today is a glimpse at the future. The future looks bright.
