No. 12 Ohio State is 5-1 against Akron. The Zips, lead by John Heisman (the trophy guy), defeated the Buckeyes in 1894. The last meeting was a 28-14 victory for Ohio State in 2001.
After nursing an ankle injury Ray Small should be back on the field this week against Akron.
Will Beanie Wells look like the runner he was for the majority of 2006? If not, Brandon Saine has the explosiveness to be this season's most exciting back. Robert Rose and Cameron Heyward will try to fill in for injured defensive end Lawrence Wilson. Anderson Russell and the rest of the secondary should be primed to intercept at least one pass from Akron's inexperienced quarterback.
In his first start quarterback Chris Jacquemain threw 14 completions for 128 yards for a win against Army. Wide receiver Jabari Arthur had 11 receptions and 125 yards. Dennis Kennedy led all rushers with 72 yards on 13 carries. Reggie Corner had a 74 yard interception return for a touchdown. Linebacker Brion Stokes and defensive back Brandon Anderson were able to combine for two sacks and four tackles for loss.
The View
It was once asked if a tree fell in the woods and nobody was around to hear it, did the tree make a noise?
I now ask, if you have Time Warner Cable and Ohio State plays on the Big Ten Network; did the 28.5 point favorite Buckeyes play a game?
